I happen to be checking my Yahoo mails which have been left untouched for a couple of months and came upon a video on Britain's Got Talent (BGT) on Yahoo site. Comparing this to America's Got Talent (AGT), I think the former is so much diversified and entertaining at the same time. Furthermore, getting Simon Cowell, Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan (the only intelligent judge from AGT) as judges for BGT goes to show how real and fair this competition is going to be. If you watch the judges in AGT you will get what I mean. Of course, there were some really unglamourous, irksome and cliched performances, nevertheless this show has brought tears, joy and lots of happiness to many people.
The first video I stumped on was a male singer by the name of Greg Pritchard. The first thought that came to my mind, "Not another rock singer." But after hearing his power packed vocal I was taken off from my seat. As Simon says, "Is like hearing a dog meowing." Let's hear it from "Super Soprano". How much does he have to squeeze to do that?
Next up, Shaun Smith, the singer who melts the heart of many girls with his authentic vocal. If he was in America Idol I think he would make it to the finals. Only 17 and hear he sings.
Last but not list, my favourite contestant of the day. A van driver in the day and a pizza delivery man by night. A very simple, humble and shy man. Never performed on stage and has never sang in front of so many people, his first performance has reached out to every single person in that auditorium especially the judges. Here's Jamie Pugh with the song 'Bring Him Home' by Les Miserables. Enjoy.
That aside, what have I been up to? I received my enlistment letter a week ago and I have been posted to Tekong, Basic Military School Center 2. Reporting Date: 11 June 2009. Honestly, my family has planed to hold my 21st Birthday celebration on that day. A chalet was already booked and plans for invite (yes, all my friends from everywhere) has been made but that enlistment letter was my biggest present. The plan had to be cancelled so I guess it will be just a wonderful celebration with my family and me. I am very happy with that.
Next, I have news to share. I have accepted NUS offer to study Computing. Many thanks to NTU and SMU offer. So I guess I will be back being a student after NS for 2 years. Really wonder if I will be able to bring the studying mood back after losing touch with it for so many years. Will be heading down to NUS for a talk on the modules available this Saturday. I hope I don't get lost in the campus.
What else to look forward too? Dinner. Yes. Dinner at Emmanuel's place this Friday. Really looking forward to meeting the others and I am craving for his mum's cooking right now.
